The Governor of Ebonyi State on Tuesday joined Nigerians across the country to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, a solemn occasion set aside to honour the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the nation’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives in defence of Nigeria’s unity, peace, and sovereignty.
In a message to mark the day, the governor paid glowing tribute to the brave men and women of the Armed Forces from Ebonyi State and across the nation who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedom and security enjoyed today. He described their selfless service as a powerful reminder that peace comes at a great cost.
The governor also acknowledged serving military personnel who continue to risk their lives daily to protect the country, as well as the families of fallen heroes, whose resilience and sacrifices, he said, can never be forgotten.

Reaffirming the commitment of his administration, the governor pledged continued support for the welfare of veterans, active service members, and the families left behind, urging citizens to uphold the values of unity, patriotism, and selfless service exemplified by the fallen heroes.
He concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed, expressing hope that their sacrifices would never be in vain.
