A social media post by an Ebonyi resident, Ekechi Stephen Oforbuike, has sparked reactions online after he appealed to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to share part of the state’s proposed 2026 budget directly with citizens.
Reacting to the over ₦884 billion budget proposal earlier presented by the governor, Oforbuike suggested that if the House of Assembly approves the budget, the government should consider giving ₦1 billion to each Ebonyi citizen. He noted that with an estimated population of 3,046,287, distributing such funds would be “a game changer,” adding jokingly that the government could “keep the remaining balance” and forget other projects.
Governor Nwifuru had earlier presented the 2026 Budget of Actualization and Hope, highlighting key developmental projects, including the establishment of a state-owned cement factory and ongoing infrastructure initiatives.
