In a continued effort to reform police operations and enhance public trust, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has partnered with CLEEN Foundation to conduct a specialized capacity-building workshop for Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs). The focus of the 3-day training is on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) and Preventive Strategies Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The training, which kicked off on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Kaduna, targets all Command PPROs from the northern part of the country. It is part of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s reform agenda to embed behavioural change within the Force and promote gender-sensitive policing.
During the opening ceremony, the Acting Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, Mr. Peter Maduoma, reaffirmed CLEEN’s dedication to improving public safety and justice sector reforms through data-driven initiatives. He emphasized the importance of professional conduct, accountability, and community-focused policing.
Representing the IGP virtually, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged the participants to fully engage with the training. He highlighted the need to improve public engagement, restore confidence in police institutions, and take proactive steps in preventing gender-based violence. ACP Adejobi also commended CLEEN Foundation for the timely and strategic collaboration.
The workshop includes expert-led sessions on SBCC principles, gender-sensitive communication, community engagement strategies, and tailored tools for violence prevention. The goal is to empower PPROs with the right communication skills to foster safer communities across Nigeria.
