…Calls for Immediate Intervention and Completion
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on Tuesday, 18th November 2025, embarked on an inspection tour of students’ hostels and abandoned projects within the university premises as part of his first official engagements.
Shortly after assuming office as the substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie visited Prof. Dora Akunyili Female Hostel and Basilio Aoli Male Hostel to assess the living conditions of students and identify urgent areas requiring intervention.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Comrade Samuel Chinazam and other student representatives highlighted pressing needs such as steady power supply and internet access. In response, the Vice-Chancellor immediately approved free Wi-Fi subscription for students and assured them of swift action toward restoring stable electricity.
Prof. Anyaehie encouraged students to remain diligent in their studies, emphasizing that the university management is committed to creating a conducive learning environment. He added that under his administration, regular engagement with students—particularly class representatives—would be prioritized to foster open communication and effective problem-solving.
“You will not return from Christmas holidays to the same conditions,”

During a brief press session, the Vice-Chancellor revealed that he intends to commission key projects within his first month in office. As part of the inspection, he visited several abandoned and uncompleted structures, including the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge and the Alumni Building, calling on relevant stakeholders to expedite actions toward their completion.
Prof. Anyaehie was accompanied during the inspection by members of the Internal Governing Council and the Provost, College of Health Sciences, Nnewi, Prof. F. Emejulu.
The visit marks a strong indication of the new Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to student welfare, infrastructure development, and administrative transparency.
