The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Nigeria’s first indigenous university and a pioneer in higher education, has declared a large-scale recruitment drive aimed at filling vacant academic and non-teaching positions across various faculties and departments.

The announcement, made through an official advertisement (Ref. No. UNP/SSR.37/06/25) signed by the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. C. N. Nnebedum, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to apply for a wide range of positions from Assistant Lecturer to Professor, as well as several administrative and technical roles.

Academic Positions

Vacancies are available in the following faculties:

  • Arts (including English and Literary Studies, Mass Communication, Music, Theatre and Film Studies, etc.)
  • Biological Sciences

  • Engineering
  • Environmental Studies
  • Basic Medical and Clinical Sciences
  • Law
  • Physical Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Vocational and Technical Education

Academic roles span ranks such as Professor, Reader, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I & II, and Assistant Lecturer. All positions require appropriate qualifications, including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees where applicable, along with relevant professional certifications and teaching or research experience as specified in the university’s Academic Appointment Guidelines (Yellow Book).

Non-Teaching Positions

Applications must also be accompanied by referee reports and NYSC discharge/exemption certificates, and should be submitted under confidential cover with the post clearly indicated on the envelope (e.g., “Lecturer II”).
