
The Ebonyi State Government has rolled out a 3-month intensive vocational training for 100 youths from the State.
This was contained in post made by a special assistant to the Governor, Leo Oketa on his verified Facebook handle.
The Ebonyi State Government, led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has made the promotion of vocational and technical education a cornerstone of his administration. He has consistently emphasized that one of the major challenges facing economies today is the gap between the skills taught in schools and those required in the job market.
Leo Lists Past Milestones of Gov. Francis in Youth Empowerment
The Special Assistant, Leo Ekene had listed the previous commitments of Governor Nwifuru’s administration to skill acquisition and youth development.
There are:
- November 2024: In collaboration with NASENI, 100 Ebonyi youths received training on modern electrical installation techniques, along with free toolkits.
- August 2024: The Ministry of Skill Development partnered with BERWO to train young people in fashion design, hairdressing, barbing, shoemaking, and Almaco glass construction.
- Agribusiness Training in Enugu: Equipping participants with agricultural skills for self-reliance.
“Each of these programs not only delivered training but also provided participants with the resources and mentorship needed to apply their new skills effectively” He said
On August 15, 2025, at Remeritona Hotel, Abakaliki, the Ministry of Skill Development and Job Creation will flag off another 3-month intensive training program for 100 Ebonyi youths.
This round will focus on:
- ICT: Data analysis, video editing, graphics design, photography, solar & CCTV installation.
- Construction & Building: Interior decoration, wood cladding, and structural skills.
- Production Skills: Cream and candle making, paint production, wig revamping, and more.
Beyond just training, participants will receive empowerment support upon completion, ensuring they can immediately put their skills to work.

Governor Francis Nwifuru’s vision goes beyond skill acquisition. By investing in youth capacity-building, he is tackling unemployment, promoting entrepreneurship, encouraging innovation, and fostering adaptability in a rapidly changing economy.
