Abakaliki, Nigeria – July 14, 2025
Ebonyi State has achieved yet another remarkable feat in governance by securing 3rd place out of the 36 states in Nigeria on the States Fiscal Transparency League Table for the First Quarter (Q1) of 2025, released recently.

The ranking, which evaluates how openly and accountably states manage their finances, places Ebonyi only behind Ekiti and Kaduna States, both of which scored a perfect 100%. Ebonyi earned an impressive 95 out of 100 points, emerging as a shining example of fiscal discipline, openness, and good governance.
The transparency score was measured across seven key metrics:
- Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)
- Proposed Budget Publication
- Approved Budget Publication
- Citizens’ Budget Availability
- Quarterly Budget Implementation Report (BIR)
- E-Procurement Portal Usage
- State Website with Fiscal Data Repository
Ebonyi excelled in nearly all categories, scoring maximum points in areas such as the publication of its approved budget and citizens’ budget, and maintaining a functional state website with fiscal data.
This achievement is a testament to the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON), whose administration continues to prioritize transparency, accountability, and responsible financial management. Since taking office, Governor Nwifuru has consistently emphasized the importance of prudent spending and open governance — a vision that is now yielding measurable national recognition.
Setting the Pace
Speaking on the Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Nwifuru on documentation, Mr. Nwankwo Boniface expressed gratitude to the governor’s transparent leadership styles
This recognition is expected to boost investor confidence, attract development partners, and reassure citizens that their government is working in their best interest.
“As Ebonyi continues to set the pace in transparency and governance, other states are watching and emulating the trailblazing steps of the Salt of the Nation” He said.
