The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has awarded WAEC scholarships to 300 secondary school students across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State, marking a significant expansion of its annual education support programme.
The latest edition represents a 50 per cent increase in beneficiaries compared to the previous year, reinforcing the foundation’s growing commitment to youth development and access to education according to Vanguard News report.
The scholarship presentation ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Offa Grammar School Auditorium, Offa, where students drawn from public secondary schools across the state received financial support to cover their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Foundation, Mr Saheed Lawal, said the expansion reflects the organisation’s dedication to ensuring that no student is denied education due to financial constraints.
“When we started this journey in 2024, we supported 130 students. In 2025, the number rose to 200, and today, 300 students across Kwara State are benefiting from this initiative,” Lawal said.
He explained that the steady growth of the scholarship scheme aligns with the vision of the foundation’s founder, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, to remove financial barriers to education and empower young people for a better future.

“Beyond the figures, this programme is about hope, motivation and giving students the confidence to dream big. Education remains the most powerful tool for change, and this is our way of investing in the future of Kwara State,” he added.
The 2026 WAEC Scholarship programme, themed “Continuing the Journey, Lighting the Path to Brighter Futures,” forms part of the foundation’s broader educational intervention targeted at underprivileged students across the state.
Delivering a lecture at the ceremony, Mr Aderemi Oladepo, Director of Weakypedia Linchpin Consult and Educational Services, commended the foundation for its consistency in supporting education. He advised the beneficiaries to remain disciplined and focused in their academic pursuits.
“Education stays with you for life. When everything else fails, education becomes your lifeline,” Oladepo said, while also urging parents and guardians to provide adequate guidance and support to their children.
Also speaking, Dr Azeez Yisa, Proprietor of Lens Polytechnic and Lens University, represented by Mr Akeem Dunmoye, encouraged the students to justify the scholarship by excelling in their examinations. He praised Alhaji Kayode for his sustained commitment to supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Parents, teachers and guardians at the event described the founder of the MOK Foundation as a visionary community leader, lauding the consistency and positive impact of the scholarship initiative.
The MOK Foundation WAEC Scholarship is an annual programme aimed at promoting access to education, encouraging academic excellence and ensuring that willing students in Kwara State are not held back by financial challenges.
