The Federal Government has confirmed the release of a Nigerian Air Force aircraft and 11 military personnel who were detained in Burkina Faso after a forced landing.
Speaking on Wednesday night, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesperson, Mr. Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the aircraft and the personnel had been freed. “Yes, they have been released,” he confirmed.
The development follows a meeting in Ouagadougou on Wednesday between Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yusuf Tuggar, and Burkina Faso’s junta leader, Mr. Ibrahim Traoré.
